Our Studio

Design is problem solving. Hiring an Architect shouldn’t make things more complicated. Our philosophy at JM|A+D is to address that complex equation of the design process with a collaborative, client focused approach. We balance the variables of aesthetics, function, performance, budget and innovation with an emphasis on project execution.

Our Allies

We're a small firm that takes on big projects. We will work with any team but have found repetitive success in select partnerships with other young entrepreneurial firms that we like to ride into battle with. With the nimbleness of a small firm paired with our corporate professionalism & quick execution, we build the right team to take every project where it needs to go.

  • Dion Cole is an emerging architectural firm serving Northern California.

  • Kelly Manning offers smart, simple solutions to collaborative, compelling projects - pulling context from the environment and existing conditions.

  • Summit Design merges regional design with international influence. Their process is rooted in hand-crafted exploration paired with digital technology.

  • Mint Studio creates memorable lifestyle experiences for guests to celebrate any occasion. They bring creativity and community together to celebrate everyday moments.

Our Community

Our office culture is one of responsibility. In our work and actions, we strive to make the world a better place. We ask every employee to actively champion a cause to which JM|A+D matches their contributions. Below are a few that we support as a corporation through participation and funding.

Baja Bound

ENSENADA, MEXICO

For over twenty-five years, Baja Bound has served the needs of the Baja region. They identify families ready for housing, connect them with groups from the USA, and provide every needed element for a service experience that is life-transforming.

Family Kitchen

BEND, OREGON

Since 1986, the Family Kitchen has been serving those who are in need of a healthy meal. They provide soup for two low-income senior housing complexes and for a teen drop-in program. They average 5,000 meals per month and have over 400 volunteers.

Adopt-A-Highway

CALIFORNIA

The Adopt-A-Highway program, which began in 1989, has been one of the most successful government-public partnerships of our time. Over 15,000 shoulder-miles of roadside within California’s State Highway System has been cleaned and enhanced.

Homeboy Industries

CALIFORNIA

Homeboy Industries is the largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. For over 30 years, they have stood as a beacon of hope in Los Angeles to provide training and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community.

The Loveland Foundation

NEW YORK

The Loveland Foundation provides opportunity and healing to communities of color, and especially to Black women and girls. Through fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more. The Foundation contributes to both the empowerment and the liberation of the communities they serve. They are committed to showing up for communities of color in unique and powerful ways.

BajaEd

ENSENADA, MEXICO

BajaEd is on a mission to give students an opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty through education. Young people want the chance to get out of the farms and fields of Baja California. They want to learn. BajaEd help make this possible. Instead of a childhood of dawn-to-dark labor, children get scholarships to finish grade school, attend high school, and even earn a university degree.
